Mission | Motivation | Mentality

bibleTheology in Sneakers (TiS) has a simple mission. So simple that a single word captures both purpose and motivation.

The Greek transliterated word aletheuo (pronounced al-ayth-yoo’-o) is what TiS is all about. So what does it mean? It means…

1. To speak or tell the truth
2. To teach the truth
3. To profess the truth

Why look at 3 definitions for this word? They reveal the 3 dimensions of truth I wish to highlight.

1. Speak it – We must learn to speak the truth as a natural state of being.
2. Teach it – We must serve others the truth to help fellow brothers and sisters (believers) know what they believe and why they believe it.
3. Profess it – We must declare the truth with conviction to non-believers.

TiS strives to…
Equip Christians with the Truth to Grow in their Faith.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. (John 4:23)

Empower Christians with “real answers” to evangelize every day.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Identify False Teachings.

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. (2 Timothy 4:3)

Foster Thoughtful Discussion.

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. (Proverbs 27:17)

How do I propose to achieve the above?
TiS strives to provide answers founded in accurate biblical interpretation, thorough research, and logic-based thought. This site is created for those who follow Christ and those who may be curious about how they can trust this faith.

I view faith not as a blind leap into darkness but a step into the light illuminated by both Spirit and Truth.

Where did the site name come from?
The terminology of “Theology in Sneakers” is inspired by the words of Rev. Matt Slick – Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry (one of the best apologetics sites out there). TiS’ chief aim is to remove the academic and oft intimidating/boring/irrelevant shroud surrounding theology by sharing practical insights, real knowledge, and helpful tools that equip Christians to accurately understand “what” we believe and adequately explain “why” we believe.

The tag line “evidence of things unseen” is inspired from Scripture itself (Hebrews 11:1) and serves as a mark in Scripture that defines what faith is. TiS’ focuses on bringing together several elements and objectives (outlined above) to provide evidence, in its varied forms, to ultimately deliver assurance and certainty in the matters of the Christian faith. A faith rooted in the Bible as revealed by God Himself and its documentary of the one true triune God and the saving knowledge of what the God-Man, Jesus Christ, has done for us. Evidence is present, and too often either out of complacency or humanity’s subversive desire to suppress the Truth (as Paul calls out) we ignore it or dismiss it.

We are all called to meet this challenge with utmost resolve, unyielding tenacity, and uncompromised conviction of what the evidence presents – Jesus is The ONLY Way, The ONLY Truth and The ONLY Life (John 14:6). TiS is committed to playing a role, however small, to equip others in this pursuit.
