Key verse(s)/quote(s):
“The philosopher puts his glass to his eye, looks at the cross, and then says, “I cannot see anything so very wonderful in it, — even with this splendid glass of mine, which more than can be seen by that poor, humble peasant; I do not care about such a system of religion as that; any simpleton can understand the cross.” So he passes by, and merely sneers at it.” - C.H. Spurgeon
“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” - 1 Corinthians 1:18
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” - Romans 3:23
Overview:
A few months ago, I was given the utmost of pleasures by being asked to preach my first ever “official” gospel message – it was also the first time I preached a message from the pulpit at my home church. We held an evening event for which we had established a theme of “It starts and ends at the cross”. It was an oddly nerve-wracking endeavor to prepare this message as I felt a weight from hosting such a lofty privilege as to handle a most poignant message carrying such extreme importance. Although there is an element of the Gospel in much if not all that I preach, it was different having a singular mandate to make the case for Christ and Christianity clear.

After waiting on this the last several months, I am pleased to announce that TiS is now available in Podcast form for your added convenience. It is really exciting as Apple has just approved my listing on iTunes and now people can browse for Christian theology and apologetics information and come across TiS. This new podcasting feature allows you to subscribe and automatically receive each new audio posting* or quickly and easily download episodes to your computer, iPod, iPad, or iPhone based on your interests.
I hope this means TiS may grace you as you are on the road, going for a run or simply want to share it with a friend. Please help spread the word and thanks again for all your constant prayers and encouragement. I am truly blessed to be used by God in this ministry and pray He continues to use this humble servant as He wishes. Praise God for this new addition to TiS and I hope you find it convenient and it allows you to share the message with others even more easily.
Check it out by visiting the “Subscribe” page, or by clicking here, or simply open iTunes and search for “Theology in Sneakers”.

I was graciously invited to share a condensed version of my testimonial at a unique Christmas outreach hosted by Miliken Gospel Church. I always feel blessed to be able to share my salvation story and especially felt a double dose of blessing being able to share to a group of individuals whose exposure to the Gospel may be somewhat limited. The group was comprised of ethnically diverse people from places such as China, Sri Lanka, India, and Africa who had recently immigrated to Canada and were enrolled in ESL (English as a Secondary Language) classes.
Please feel free to listen and/or share the below with anyone you feel would benefit from hearing about God’s work in another person’s life.

“The Outstretched philosophy is simple: we believe God will bless our sincere efforts at deepening a relationship with Him. He w
ants our fellowship and appreciates creative approaches to seeking His face. This is why Outstretched is dedicated to a Christ-centered pursuit of physical healing and spiritual growth through a practice of yoga.
This Christian approach to yoga simply allows us to combine these two essential goals: becoming physically healthy and spiritually healthy. We become more spiritually healthy through the yoga practice by calming our minds and quieting ourselves to the point that we can tune out the world’s frequency and tune into God’s frequency.”
The above text is a direct quote (emphasis added) from the first Christian yoga site that appears when I use Google to search “Christian Yoga”. As you read it, how do you feel? Apathetic? Troubled? Dismayed? Frustrated?
My reaction occurred in rapid fire succession as I read the aforementioned text:
